In Fall of 2016, my TMAC practicum group at CSULB participated in a grading norming session for a collective midterm.

The group collaborated on a midterm prompt titled “Campaign Manager.” We asked students to pretend that they were Kanye West’s campaign manager during his run for president and to choose a photo that would be used for his campaign materials and would best suit the campaign. Students were given six images to choose from. We asked them to write a rhetorical analysis of their chosen image, detailing the image's rhetorical situation and appeals. You can find the prompt by clicking here.

The norming session consisted of 99 anonymous student papers (9 papers from 11 TAs), all put in a large pile for us to grade. Each paper got two readings from two different TAs, and those that got irregular grades got a third reading.
